Canada’s CARL Portage Network announces the launch of Dataverse North

The Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) Portage Network (https://portagenetwork.ca/),  is a national, library-based research data management network that coalesces initiatives in research data management to build capacity and coordinate activities.

Under the auspices of the Portage Network, Dataverse North (https://portagenetwork.ca/dataverse-north-working-group/) is a Canadian research library initiative created to develop a community of practice for libraries using or interested in using Dataverse as a repository for research data in Canada. Comprised of members from Canadian university libraries and together with regional library providers, Dataverse North will investigate gaps and opportunities that could be addressed by nationally coordinated strategies and services for Dataverse, including training, infrastructure development, and support for researchers and services in libraries.

Established in 2015, Portage facilitates and provides leadership in the development of RDM infrastructure and services through a federated model of resource sharing, expertise, and local and national technology. Dataverse North members will work to coordinate and discuss local and national infrastructure for research data in Canada.
